GeoHelix™ GPS antennas from Sarantel offer significant benefits over patch antennas for portable, handheld and vehicle-mounted GPS-based products.

The GeoHelix™ antenna has a cardioid type Right-Hand Circularly Polarised (RHCP) Pattern with a 3dB beamwidth of greater than 120 degrees. This allows greater field of vision above the horizon and accessibility to more satellites. This is particularly useful in applications where the GPS receiver's orientation may change.

GeoHelix™ antennas have a very low Near-Field. Their performance is not affected when in close proximity to objects - including human tissue. The GPS receiver's sensitivity is not impaired when used in hand-held or automotive applications.

The balanced configuration of the design removes the need for a ground plane, making the antenna independent of the receiver design, offering greater flexibility, especially in the design of hand-held products.

An integral Balun ensures complete isolation of the antenna from its mounting and allows adjacent use of multiple antennas. For example a GeoHelix™ GPS antenna and 3G mobile antenna can be placed side by side.

The GeoHelix™ product range includes both passive and active antennas, all of which have been designed to simplify the integration process and to offer maximum product flexibility.
